Cannabis applications flood Narcotics Control Commission

The Narcotics Control Commission says it has received applications from many groups, companies and individuals, interested in running a marijuana cultivation business for industrial or medicinal purposes.

Although Ghana signed on to a pact permitting the cultivation of cannabis, with 0.3 per cent content of the principal psychoactive ingredient, Tetrahydrocannabis (THC), it is yet to operationalise the license regime, because a legislative instrument had not been passed.

The Public Relations officer of the Narcotics Control Commission, Mr Francis Opoku Amoah explains that the legislative instrument which will be laid before parliament soon will outline strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the sector is properly regulated.
