The Daily Graphic lauds President Akufo Addo for convening the extraordinary summit on the political situation in Mali and welcomes efforts by ECOWAS to bring normalcy to Mali. According to the paper, it is reassuring that ECOWAS while suspending Mali from the regional bloc also reaffirmed its support for the transitional process. It says the African Union and ECOWAS should condemn and reject unconstitutional changes of government and be consistent in their application of sanctions. The Graphic urges International partners to continue to support Mali towards the successful implementation of the transitional period of 18 months and roll out a monitoring mechanism to that effect. It also suggests and advises that good governance principles and accountability be adhered to ensure improved living standards for people within the sub-region.

The Ghanaian Times says an urgent response is needed to prevent disaster in the Ketu South Municipality. The Times shares in the pain of all who have been affected by the tidal waves and hopes that help arrives soon to alleviate the people’s sufferings. It says in 2019 a similar raid by the sea destroyed homes and carried away coffins from the local cemeteries. In April this year, waves again ravaged some 100 houses displacing about eight hundred people. The paper says the community suffers huge devastations anytime the sea lashes at the coast but nothing much has been done to avert the situation in the area. The Times, therefore, calls on the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Ministry of Works and Housing, National Disaster Management Organization and other benevolent agencies to put in stringent measures to deal with the problem.
